Bernadette Hopkins
Biography
Bernadette Hopkins was born in Belfast, N. Ireland and has exhibited her art work in New York, Italy and Ireland. She is a visual/performance/social practice artist and since 1981, has lived and worked in Milan, Dublin and Co. Donegal. She graduated with a first class honours in MA Social Practice Art at Limerick School of Art and Design and previously graduated in Fine Art and Painting at Dun Laoghaire College of Art and Design .Her art practice explores contested spaces and environments, affecting the natural world and the human condition through multimedia and performance art. .
She has recently researched and written ‘A Donegal Framework Document for Intercultural Art and Culture' which was commissioned and published by Donegal, Mayo and South County Dublin Art Councils and Donegal Intercultural Platform and was a founding member of artist collaborations Cuislí, Utopia Ducks performance art and social practice art collectives. Bernadette continues to develop her art practice, methodologies and research and performs with Bbeyond Performance Art. She presently curates and chairs Radical ReThink Conversations in Contemporary Art Practice at the Regional Cultural Centre, Co. Donegal.
